Where is the site located?

The site incorporates two runs of arches that face onto Corbett’s Lane, Corbett’s Passage and Silwood Street. For ease of reference, the two sets of arches are known as the red and blue phases which are illustrated on the map below (click to enlarge).

Site plan

The red phase begins at Corbett's Passage, opposite Averbury Court, and runs the length of Corbett's Lane, ending at Eugenia Road. The blue phase runs directly south of this, down Silwood Street to the Reculver Road intersection. The railway line is located to the south.

Why is the site suitable for this type of development?

The site has a history of mixed industrial use dating back to the early 1990s before being vacated in June 2012 to allow temporary possession in connection with the Bermondsey Dive Under as part of the Thameslink upgrade works to the railway line into London Bridge Station.

As the upgrade works is completed, Network Rail is in the process of returning the arches to The Arch Company. Where arches are occupied, we will offer businesses the opportunity to have their arches brought up to the standard of those around them at a later date following the end of their lease period.
